Heather Nameth Bren - Delftware Imagery

Kate Fisher- Function and Non-Function

Robin Murphy - Sculptural Ceramics

Delftware or delft pottery, made in the 17th century, is recognized by its blue and white intricately glazed imagery. The imagery, originating in Delft, Holland, was later produced and further developed in England. In her workshop, Heather Nameth Bren will demonstrate this process and discuss the historical significance and development of this technique.

In her afternoon workshop, Kate Fisher will share how the different approaches of creating functional and sculpture work within a particular conceptual framework help inform one another and create a vibrant studio practice.

Learn new construction techniques and surface treatments with discussions on anatomy, structure, form and design. Robin Murphy will demonstrate her hand-building process in building a figure. She will address some of the technical challenges of working large, making a head, and facial features. She will also discuss texture and the various surface treatments she uses.
